Hi, my name is Kemari Effiong. In 2020, my mom had to go into the hospital for about 6-7 months due to debilitating respiratory issues. Because of this, she couldn't go to work for an extended period. Since she wasn't working, the amount of money coming into our house plummeted, and my mom couldn't afford our rent at the time. We had explained to our landlord the situation at hand, but he wasn't very transparent with us despite my mom always making sure to pay him on time. We tried contacting an assistance agency to help us by covering the cost of the rent we could not pay, but the agency recently contacted us and told us that they ran out of funds to help us cover the late rent. Because of this, our landlord is attempting to evict us, and we need help. We're trying to make money to pay off the late fee and move somewhere else. My mom fights tooth and nail every day to make sure my family is taken care of, and I want to help how I can as well, so I put this GoFundMe up in hopes that we could get help. We're trying to raise the money to pay off the late dues, and we're looking for houses for rent in the Richmond area. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
