Kelsie suffers from a condition known as Congenital Aniridia, which means she was born without an Iris. As a result of having no iris, she is very light sensitive and has a lot of issues with glare. Over the past year, Kelsie has also developed a visually significant cataract in her left eye which has caused her vision to decline from 20/100 to count fingers. Kelsie needs cataract surgery to remove her cataract combined with an artificial iris implant placement and a secondary intraocular lens in her left eye to restore her vision. Unfortunately, these devices are not covered by insurance and are very expensive. The estimated cost of an artificial iris and lens implants combined with surgical fees is $15,875.00 plus transportation to and from Cincinnati, and the overnight stays during this surgery.
Kelsie is 21 years old and graduated from Alexandria Monroe High School has lived in Alexandria all her life with her mother, Amber, who also suffers from the same eye disease. As many of you may know, Amber is now legally blind. However, we hope that Kelsie will not completely lose her vision. With the advanced technology and treatments this could all be possible.
Please donate anything you can to help with this expense. All donations will go towards this surgery and the costs incurred. Our goal is to raise funds and complete the surgery by the summer of 2022, as time is of the utmost importance not to cause any more damage to her eyes. All funds are being set up in a Trust Account in the care of Kelsie Remington at First Merchants Bank.
I appreciate your support!
Kelsie
