Help Kelsi Stay & beat Clinical Depression

Donation protected

My wife and I got married in 2018 and it was the best day. My wife, Kelsi has battled clinical depression, along with other mental illnesses (PTSD, Bulimia, Generalized Anxiety) since we met, but the last couple years her clinical depression has taken a turn for the worst. Kelsi actively battles with suicidal ideation. She wants to get better but it’s so hard to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Last fall, Kelsi was unable to continue working and had to take a leave of absence to be admitted to a partial hospitalization program for mental illness. She was very scared and felt unsafe so she made the difficult decision to admit to the program. After a couple of months in the program, Kelsi attempted to return to work but her depression has continued to worsen. We have not had the financial ability to pay for her to return to treatment and stop working to focus on getting better. She has bounced around to a few different jobs recently, doing her best to keep pushing, despite telling me often she’s afraid and doesn’t know how long it will be before her depression wins.
Since Kelsi does not have health insurance, she has made appointments with 2 different Psychiatrists on online platforms but was told by both that her Suicidal Ideation and Depression is too acute and severe and that she needs to be admitted back to a hospitalization program quickly. We are raising money to: pay monthly bills to allow Kelsi some time off work to focus on her mental health and cover any Therapy & Treatment costs. As you may or may not know- mental health care is extremely expensive and also hard to find in good quality. Some treatment programs can cost upwards of $1800 daily without insurance. We are still working to pay off her time in treatment from last fall. We would like for her to take time to focus solely on therapy, getting better and being able to find joy in life again. My wife is such a hard worker. She has worked multiple jobs at once, pulled double shifts and worked through sickness, countless times in our marriage. I see how hard she is trying to push through but she is slowly losing her light. I work full time at a local children’s residential mental facility and love my work but I simply do not make enough to cover our living costs alone. I just want her to feel free to get better and think of herself so she can stay here with us for many years to come. Thank you for reading this minute glimpse into our story and for your support. I feel very nervous to launch this fundraiser but I have faith that the right people will see it. Mental health is a very real battle that we don’t always remember because it’s not always visible. However, Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in young adults and we want to support Kelsi is normalizing asking for help. Thank you in advance for your support of Kelsi on this journey.
