Hello Family and friends,
Kelsey and I could really use the help from of our village. Anyone who can help towards Kelsey’s journey through recovery after two emergency spinal surgeries would be a blessing
Kelsey had a severe injury that fractured her spine in two places. She had lost all feeling and movement in her left leg, and partial painful feeling in her right leg, resulting in two emergency spinal surgeries within 24 hours of each other. The surgeon is hopeful that after continued therapy, she will be able to walk normally again with most feeling in her legs. With time and serious rehabilitation.
Here is where we need you…
We are still in unknown territory, and everything changes by the day.
Kelsey’s life will be changed forever.
My strong and beautiful wife has a long journey to recovery ahead, with two weeks of bed rest at home and months of physical therapy to help her continue to gain sensation back in her legs, let alone use them properly again.
We can admit we need some help! She will need some special equipment at home to get around, family and friends to support and see her, and with both of us focusing on her we are not working at this time.
It will take a few months for any aid and assistance to start.
Kelsey has been such a pillar of love, energy, and strength; it breaks my heart that this has happened to her! I have not left her bedside for the last 6 days straight we've been in the ICU. Eventually, I will need to go back to work to support our home. We are thankful to have family and friends that can come help us once we are home, but that support can’t last forever as we know everyone has to get back to their lives too!
From the bottom of my heart, anything you can spare, donate, or give, even just a call….makes our world.
We see you and are grateful for you checking in on us, and thank you for helping us in the most scariest part of our lives.
UPDATE:
Day 12: We are still here.
Everyday we wake up with hopes of going home to find we have so many days ahead of us. Learning how to walk again takes time, and Kelsey is trying to RUN out of here. Her drains finally came out today, and we are grateful that she is not experiencing the same pain as before.
She says she misses you all so much, and smiles every time someone calls or texts her. She talks about all of you with so much love and admiration, don’t be afraid to stop by.
We want to be prepared when we get home so I have created at Amazon Wish List of medical things Kelsey will need when she gets home, if you want to check it out:
Current Location: Sharp Memorial Hospital RM 436
Thank you all for being a part of her world.
