Help Kelsey Fight to Receive a Bone Marrow Transplant
Donation protected
Dear friends-
Our sister Kelsey Proutey is facing an incredibly challenging battle and we are asking for your support. What started as unexplained bruising a few months ago has turned into her being diagnosed with a rare and severe case of Aplastic Anemia or Bone Marrow Failure. This is a life-threatening condition where the bone marrow stops producing enough blood cells, leading to extremely low blood platelet counts (hers are currently at “1”), leaving her vulnerable to infections, bleeding, and other severe complications. Essentially, her body is killing off her own cells.
After countless tests, doctor visits, transfusions and a difficult wait for answers, Kelsey’s medical journey has now led her to the next critical step — a bone marrow transplant. In a few weeks, she will be undergoing immunotherapy and chemotherapy followed by the transplant at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, where she will remain for months, both for the treatment and for the transplant to take hold.
Just a few months ago, Kelsey and Brandon made the decision to move their family from Denver to Memphis, where they bought their first home and Kelsey had just started to build her new career in real estate.
Although we are thankful the Lord brought them here to have the family support, the financial burden is already beginning to weigh heavily on them. Between medical bills, travel, extended stays in Baltimore, time away from work and care for her children they have a large need for financial support. We are asking for your help to ease this burden which will allow Kelsey and her family to focus on this long journey ahead.
Your donations will go directly to help with the following:
-High insurance co pays, deductible and out of pocket costs for a very expensive procedure.
-Travel back and forth from Baltimore for Kelsey and her family as she will need a 24 hour caretaker for months.
-Housing for Kelsey, caretaker and family in Baltimore.
-The ongoing tests that will follow after the transplant.
-The effect this will have on their income from being out of work.
Any donation, big or small, will help!
Above all, we ask for your prayers. Prayers for strength, healing, and peace as Kelsey and her family navigate this difficult time. Pray for Brandon as he supports her and for their two little girls River (2) and Aspen (1) as they are having to spend a lot of time away from Mommy and Daddy. Also, please pray for the health of her two brothers, one of which will be her bone marrow donor, and needs to be healthy for the procedure to move forward. We truly believe in the power of prayer and that God has a plan! He will use her story for His glory!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support. We’ll provide updates along the way as Kelsey and her family continue this journey. We will tag social media posts with #KelseysStory4HisGlory
