Help Kelsey Honor Her Mother's Final Wish

Hi, my name is Kelsey and over the last year, my family's and my lives have changed dramatically.

In the middle of 2023, my mom was an active mother and grandmother. She would often babysit the grandkids and was excitedly looking forward to the newest addition to the grandkid crew due that Christmas. Sadly, by Christmas, she barely knew our names, and we found out she had a terminal illness. Her medical condition is Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome. It's rare, but mainly it was the fact she didn't fit the standard criteria, which delayed her access to treatment. It's commonly associated with alcoholics, and she never drank. Her condition was caused by malnutrition, but because she was overweight, that was never a consideration.

Over the last year, as my mother's guardian, I have worked tirelessly and prayed alike to make sure her needs are met and become the advocate she needs and deserves. Due to her illness, she has the physical abilities of a newborn. Her speech was heavily affected, she doesn't have the ability to make new memories, and much of her past is gone as well. With this, I have missed a lot of work and spent through my savings on things related to her care.

As we are approaching the end of her life, I am doing my best to honor her wishes not to be cremated and to have her laid to rest. Unfortunately, the cost is going to be close to, if not over, $12,000!

At this time, I am just trying to raise the money to cover her burial/funeral costs, and my family plans to save for a proper gravestone at a later time.
