Hello, my name is Kelsey Kaht, and I am about to finish my active duty time in the military as an AH-64D/E Apache mechanic. A few years ago, I began my journey to become a professional pilot. So far, I have enrolled and completed half of the ground school and almost logged 10 hours towards my Private Pilot Certificate. Being an aviation mechanic in the military is very demanding, however, and through all the overtime, two deployments, fields, time spent at the hangar, and limited instructors, it has been so difficult to get the time and the money to complete the training. I managed to finally get enrolled in the military Career Services Program (CSP) and Credentialing assistance (CA) to finish my goal, and I thought I had it all figured out. But as soon as I started the CSP, the military reduced the CA funding to a quarter of the original amount, and now I will have exorbitant out of pocket expenses. I have and will continue to apply for scholarships, but for many of them, I am past the deadline, too old, or otherwise don't qualify. Instead of getting discouraged, I set up this fundraiser to overcome the obstacles. If this fundraiser is a success, I would like to finish my training, use the remainder to help another student pilot Soldier, and then pay it forward to someone else in the future.
