Kellye is my best friend, and we met during my recovery journey through a mutual friend. She has always shown me how to have fun and connect with others without substance use, and she’s the type of person who would give her shirt off her back to make sure someone doesn’t go without. Kellye spreads kindness wherever she goes and truly knows no stranger. She works as a teacher’s aid at a local school, always giving back to her community, even when her own circumstances have been tough.
On New Year’s Eve, just four minutes before midnight, a fire broke out in Kellye’s mom’s garage, where Kellye had been staying due to financial hardship. The fire was caused by a faulty outlet, and in a terrifying moment, her mom thought Kellye was inside. Thankfully, Kellye was safe, having fallen asleep at a friend’s house while watching Stranger Things. However, the fire destroyed everything Kellye owned—her clothes, shoes, laptop, art supplies, and all the keepsakes that held memories for her and her family.
Now, Kellye is facing the daunting task of rebuilding her life from scratch. The funds raised here will help her replace her daily essentials and begin to regain some stability. We hope that Kellye can see the love and support from the community that comes back around in our times of need. Any help you can offer will make a world of difference for someone who has always put others first.
