Help Kelly & Zack Rebuild

Hi, I’m Jen and I am fundraising for my sister Kelly and 9 year old nephew Zack to help them rebuild following a terrible fire. My sister is an amazing single mom to a wonderful and feisty little boy with multiple special needs, including Autism and severe ADHD. Sadly, on the afternoon of 1/17/22, their apartment in Upland burned down during a fire that started in their downstairs neighbor’s apartment.

Devastatingly, their dog Punky and two kitties, Horatio and Koshka were trapped inside and didn’t make it out. Kelly had been working from home when she saw the flames and called 911. She tried to rescue her beloved pets, but they had hidden, and the smoke and flames had reached her apartment very quickly and her windows had started to explode as she fled the apartment - it took about four minutes for her apartment to be consumed in the fire. Thankfully Zack was at our parents house and didn’t have to experience this first hand.

The fire department has deemed it a total loss, and nothing is salvageable from the apartment. Kelly and Zack have lost everything they owned and treasured except for the clothes they were wearing that day, and their car.

As a family, we’re doing all we can to love, support, and care for Kelly and Zack as they recover from this traumatic experience. They’re staying with our parents for the foreseeable future and we’ve taken care of their immediate needs but they are going to need a lot of help to rebuild their lives in a new home. Any support to help them get back on their feet would be deeply appreciated.
