On the morning of Friday, May 1, I lost everything to a house fire—including all 3 of my cats.

I had just moved in hours earlier. Everything was still packed in boxes. Nothing was set up yet—including tenants insurance.

Hi, I'm Kelly Whiteside. Some of you may know me as the owner of Kitties & Cream.

The fire started shortly after I left for work, but I didn't find out until ~45mins later.

By the time I got there, it was too late.

Losing all of my pets at once is beyond devastating, and I'm still trying to process it.

In addition to the emotional impact, this is also a significant financial blow—having just spent thousands on my eldest cat, Mouse, who passed away a few months ago after a sudden, severe decline, plus all the recent moving costs.

Due to extensive smoke damage, I have essentially nothing left—just the clothes I was wearing that day.
