My daughter Kelly serves in the US Air Force and was stationed at Tyndall AFB. Last year she found the perfect little house to buy in Mexico Beach and spent all her spare time renovating and decorating it. On the 10th of October Hurricane Michael slammed into Mexico Beach and devastated the community. Kelly evacuated a few days before, taking her two dogs and some essentials. She has lost everything else. The house and everything in it has been essentially pulverized and destroyed.

I live far away from her and am trying to give her the opportunity to get going with some of the basics again. Her fiancé, who is also a service member, was able to come back early from his overseas deployment to help Kelly recover some items from the wreckage. Both Kelly and he are combat veterans and are really struggling with this horrible situation now.

All funds raised will be spent solely on absolute necessities. At this point Kelly doesn’t have a stick of furniture to her name, or even any other basic household items. Her insurance company is not giving her much hope of paying out for anything, and FEMA might condemn any remaining buildings as total loss.
