Situation:
Hello, my name is Kelly and I'm reaching out today because I find myself facing an incredibly challenging situation. Over the past few months, I've encountered a series of setbacks that have made it difficult to make ends meet and take care of my health, housing and basic needs. I have been conventionally unemployed for 1.5 years due to a death in the family, serious medical issues and associated mental strain.
Here’s where I’m at:
1. I lost my source of income for two months.
I have been driving rideshare since I have no other option at present. My car was severely damaged in a hail storm, resulting in 10,000 in damage. I just received it back, but there is no way I can make back what I lost. I was barely getting by as it was.
2. Lost My Healthcare
A couple of months ago, I lost my healthcare coverage. (cobra) This has left me unable to afford the medications I depend on to manage my health, and without them, I’m struggling to maintain my physical and mental health.
3. Need New Doctors and Medical Support
My longtime doctor, who I trusted and relied on, recently stopped seeing out-of-state patients. This means I need to find new healthcare providers, which is hard without insurance. I hope to buy some insurance during open enrollment, but as of now its not a option.
4. Car Payment
My car is my primary source of income—it’s essential for me to drive for work. But right now, I have no way to make my car payment. I depend on it to get around and keep working while I look for a full-time job. If I miss this payment, I risk losing it, and I can't afford to lose this lifeline.
5. Housing Payment
On top of that, I’m struggling to make my housing payment. I don’t have the means to pay for my housing right now, and the possibility of losing my home is very real.
6. Needing bone grafts and related surgery.
I am suffering a condition where I need bone grafts and surgery. This is outside of the scope of this gofundme, but if I can’t get working again my chances of physical survival increase.
What I’m Doing About It:
I’m doing everything I can to turn things around. I’ve been actively seeking new job opportunities, including contacting government agencies that help people in my situation. It’s been eight months and I am finally starting to get the help I need.
There are no medical support options, short of paying cash that apply to me. I’m in the process of looking for new doctors, and I’m doing my best to cut back on needed medication.
But despite all my efforts, I need help. I simply cannot manage all of this alone, and I’m turning to the kindness of others to get through this difficult time. Your support whether financial or emotional—means more to me than I can express.
Any donation you can make will go directly toward:
Paying for my medications and healthcare expenses
Covering my car payment to maintain my job
Helping me keep my housing while I get back on my feet
Why Your Help Matters:
If you’ve ever faced unexpected hardship, you know how overwhelming it can be. I’m doing my best to stay positive, keep working, and rebuild my life, but right now, I need a hand to get back on track. Your donation will help me keep my health, my job, and my home while I work to find stability again.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for considering supporting me during this difficult time. Anything you can contribute, whether large or small, will make a huge difference. I’m very grateful for your kindness and generosity.
Thanks,
Kelly
