Support Kelly Brock-Sanchez: A Teacher Fighting for Justice and Healing in the Wake of the Charlie Kirk Social Media Backlash.

The Breaking Point: A Failure of School Safety. Before the headlines and the political firestorm, Kelly Brock-Sanchez was a dedicated Special Education teacher in Clay County and grandmother, who had reached a breaking point. One week before the incident, Kelly was abandoned while on lunch duty with 100 students and zero safety training—a violation of school protocols.

The trauma peaked the following week during an unplanned, unannounced active shooter drill on a 3rd-grade state testing day. While in the front office, Kelly saw an unidentified man enter the building and was told to "run and lock the door." She spent those moments believing she was about to die. When the "all clear" was given, she was devastated to learn it was a drill—one that left her special needs students traumatized during their lunch break and then expected to return to state testing for two more hours.

The Price of Speaking Out: Exhausted, traumatized, and furious at the disregard for her students' mental health, Kelly made a private post on her personal Facebook page to vent. She never intended for it to be public. However, a "friend" screenshotted it and handed it to political (Young Republicans of Clay County and Scott Presler on X, as well as other MAGA influencers) groups. Within ten minutes, Kelly and her adult children—living 1,000 miles away—were doxxed.

The harassment that followed was horrific:

Death Threats: Harassers threatened her children’s lives to "make her feel the same pain that Charlie’s kids do." We had to incur the costs of leaving our home for a week per the attorney’s orders for safety (our adult kids were advised this as well).

Xenophobic Attacks: I was targeted with threats of deportation via her work email and grotesque things were said to me by a woman that cannot be repeated. I am Puerto Rican and fully American.

Political Targeting: High-ranking state officials (and surrogates of the MAGA movement) amplified the story, causing Kelly to trend on X (Twitter) for weeks and inviting a flood of vile attacks. These attacks also extended to nasty emails to her school email address, which the district did not stop while she was on leave.

“A Pawn in a Statewide Crackdown,” as reported by Jacksonville Today, Kelly’s suspension was the opening act of a broader campaign. The State Education Commissioner is now seeking to permanently revoke her 3 teaching licenses for "gross immorality," using her case as a springboard for a new "violent extremism" reporting portal. Kelly is being used as a political example, even though her actions were a private response to workplace trauma. Now the fight is in federal court with the state, with the First Amendment being cited as the reason why her speech is protected. We are waiting now for the state to respond to our filing. The state can respond in one of two ways: a trial or accepting the evidence presented, which a judge will likely rule in our favor. The Florida Teachers’ Union has 2 attorneys representing her in that case and also against Clay County for wrongful dismissal. There is a famous FIRST AMENDMENT NON-PROFIT in Philly providing research for the case as well. They wish to remain anonymous. That case is now slated for July, to go in front of an administrative judge in Duval County. In all, there are over 200 cases like Kelly's across the state.

The Path to Recovery

Kelly is a breast cancer survivor who underwent her last surgery in June 2025, just 4 days after school got out. She reported back to work just a week after being off physical restrictions for the new school year. Kelly is still under surveillance at the Mayo Clinic, but without a job or references, she is facing:

A $8,000 Medical Deductible: For essential cancer surveillance and weekly therapy sessions. Plus 25% copay after the deductible has been met.

Kelly is being treated for complex PTSD caused by having breast cancer since May 2024, traumatic failed safety events in the 2 weeks leading up to the unannounced active shooter drill on September 9th, put on administrative leave with no reason, and the subsequent harassment (including the Commissioner of Education who did not stop until he received a cease and desist letter) until Oct 5th and doxxing of herself and family 10 minutes after the story broke on 9.11.25.

As of January 2026, Kelly is still unemployable due to the nationwide media attention (Rolling Stone, The Hill, Politico, Yahoo News, and more) despite her last evaluation being rated as “highly qualified.” Financially, it has been very difficult for us and Kelly has to continue therapy but we cannot continue covering it anymore with the new plan year starting January 1st. Two years in a row we had to pay out this same deductible cost for her cancer treatment. She missed 8 weeks of work after her first cancer surgery to remove the breast cancer and to perform the reconstruction. We still owe money to Mayo Clinic from her surgery last June.
