Hi, my name is Kelly. This is a hard subject to relive all over again, but here it goes. I was sexually assaulted on December 11th, 2022. Since then, I have been doing counseling and dealing with the physical injury that was caused. At the time of the event, I felt an electric shock that went all the way down my leg after it was forced in the wrong direction. I had met this person online against my better judgment, and we had talked and gotten to know each other over several months. When I met this person face to face, it was nothing like he portrayed himself to be. He spoke with anger in his voice and spoke at me. This person inflicted fear into me to the point I honestly didn't think I was going to come home or see my family again. He made sure that he showed me that he had a gun as he drank a whole pint of alcohol to himself and chased it with Red Bull. With each passing minute, he continued to get angrier. His words spoken to me still haunt me to this day, as well as waking up every night to make sure all my windows and doors are closed and locked. I was able to get away with the help of my daughter.

As months went by, I have been experiencing pain in my hip that has gotten progressively worse over the course of almost two years. Receiving care from Pelvic Physical Therapy to a couple of different Sports Medicine doctors and more Physical Therapy. With MRIs and X-rays, I have been told I have several tears and several ligaments that are damaged. I have been continuously working and trying to stay at work until I can correct the damage that has been inflicted on me by this person. I have gone from walking fine to walking with a cane to using a scooter so that I could still do my job efficiently. I finally put my foot down with my primary doctor as my mental health has been spiraling downhill since the event that caused all this. I was done with Sports Medicine as they didn't want to help, and I was ready to end the pain myself. I set my appointment with a surgeon and told my doctor I just need them to write the referral. I am not living at this point; I am just existing. By the time I get home from work, I am hurting so bad I can't do anything else. I don't drive anymore except to and from work, and even that is getting harder. I can't go for walks, take my puppy for walks, or even visit friends and family as I can't be in a car for long. I was done. I found a great surgeon who studied my MRIs and images and has decided that my hip is too damaged to just repair it. I am scheduled for a hip replacement on November 5th to take control and gain my life back. Through this horrific nightmare that has been never-ending, I have exhausted my PTO and vacation with doctors, my mental health, and this injury. I am needing help as all these bills are flooding in. I will not be working for several months. In June of last year, this person was placed where he belongs with the help of myself and another who testified. I am determined to regain my life. I thank God every day that I am alive, as I know things could have taken a turn for the worse.
