On July 6th, 2024, Kelly received the diagnosis no one is ever prepared for: stage 4 glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer that turned her world upside down overnight. Since then, she has endured two brain surgeries, radiation, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy—fighting every single day with incredible strength and hope.

Kelly worked as long as her body allowed, relying on her insurance until her doctors warned her that seizures were likely and she could no longer drive. That meant losing her job, her insurance, and much of her independence all at once. Although she applied for Medicaid, she has been denied coverage for nearly all of her care, leaving her to battle cancer while also fighting a broken system.

After months of struggle, she was finally able to restart treatment at Mayo Clinic. Miraculously, the new chemo began to work—her speech improved, her vision started to clear, and she finally felt something she hadn’t felt in a long time: hope.

Then came the devastating news:
