Let's Help Kelly Call Canada Home Again.

Hello! My name is Angie and I want to help our dear friend Kelly and her sweet Mama Judy raise some funds to help with upcoming, and rather large, legal fees. Kelly has found herself in a frustrating and somewhat complicated immigration situation; a situation that is going to cost her quite a chunk of change in immigration lawyer/legal fees.

As many of you know, she grew up here in Gibsons, B.C. from elementary school into her twenties. Both of her parents continued to live here while she went back to her birthplace of Texas for quite a few years to work and be with family down there - to have the experience of her Texan roots for a while.

Since the passing of both her dad and stepdad in recent years here in Canada, 'home' was calling to her to return. She was especially pulled at the start of the pandemic to be close to her mother who, in her senior years, has no other blood relative living near her in Gibsons and could really use ongoing, daily support from her beloved daughter.

Kelly has been here on a visitor visa which runs out shortly. She was denied her first attempt at a work visa and was also asked to give up her 'landed immigrant status' at the border when she first arrived; something a lawyer would have advised her not to do but at the time she was pressured by Canadian Immigration at the border and did so, not understanding the complications down the road.

Kelly is not allowed to legally work and is living on dwindling funds to be here. The hope is that a lawyer can help set her up for success to stay long term either under the 'Lonely Canadian' program, work visa and/or eventually get her Landed Immigrant status reinstated.

The lawyer fees will start around $7500 Canadian. Anything you could do to help would be greatly appreciated!
