After 24 years of marriage, my husband left me and our five children—four of whom have disabilities. He locked me out of all our accounts, leaving me with no access to our money. He stopped paying on my car months ago, and I did everything I could to keep up by selling items from our home. Despite my efforts, my car was repossessed last week. I need a car to get to work and support my family, and I have a job interview coming up on Friday.

My in-laws, who own the home we lived in, evicted me and won the eviction in court. I filed a motion to stay, but the judge denied it. The children and I were forced out of our home, and I had to take them to my husband’s new place so they wouldn’t have to sleep in the cold. I am now homeless, and every shelter I’ve called is full. I’ve been able to stay in a hotel for a few nights thanks to a friend, but I am out of money and have nowhere to go. I need help getting my car back, finding an attorney, and most importantly, securing a place to live for my children and me so we can be together again.

I’m embarrassed to even ask for help. I never thought I’d be in this situation after 24 years of marriage. I gave up my nursing career to stay home with my children, and I have no problem going back to work or paying back money that’s loaned to me. I’m scared and don’t know what else to do. Please don’t judge me—everyone goes through rough times. I love my children with everything I have and miss them terribly. They cry when I call and beg me to come get them. Their little faces are what keep me going, swallowing my pride, and asking for help. One of my daughters was adopted from an orphanage and knows that her real mommy left her. I can’t imagine what she’s thinking now. If you can’t donate, please share this so I can get some help. Thank you so much!
