Help Keli get to Johns Hopkins University
Donation protected
Hi, it's Keli and I have exciting news to share! I have been nominated for an AMAZING opportunity to attend a leadership workshop at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University this summer! The program costs a lot more than my mom and me can afford. I am doing odd jobs in the community like washing cars, yard work and tutoring, looking for a company sponsorship and applying for a scholarship. My mom is on a fixed disability income and cannot afford the $4000 price ticket, so I'm reaching out to my family, friends and church congregation with this Go-Fund-Me page to see if any of you are able to contribute. Any amount will help. No amount is too small! If you are financially unable to donate, a positive thought or prayer is also appreciated. THANK YOU!
Now for the fun part! Explaining the opportunity I've been given by the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC). My excellent grades (I'm in 9th grade now!) and my participation in the Duke Tip Program in 7th grade, where I took the ACT and scored very high, have qualified me to attend the "Mastering Leadership Program". I will be spending six days at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. I will be living in the dorms with other students like me while I'm there. How cool is that!
A typical day includes many types of learning activities including lectures, off-campus briefings and tours, guest speakers, simulations, leadership exercises and workshops. I have included pictures of a sample program schedule for those who are interested in learning more.
By participating in this program, I will gain essential leadership skills. I will learn about group dynamics, team building, goal setting, communication and conflict resolution. I will also have the opportunity to engage in discussions with national and world leaders and get a first-hand look into leadership careers.
I am very excited about this opportunity and I'm looking forward to learning all I can while meeting new people and having a good time. I know that developing my leadership skills will not only help me personally, but it will allow me to help my community as well.
So, let's make this trip a reality, together! Thank you for your time and your consideration.
