Hello, everyone! My name is Helen Horne, and I'm raising funds for my mom, Kelene Thome, and my dear departed grandpa, Larry Haas.

My grandpa (affectionately known as Popo to all of us in the family) was a Navy SEAL veteran who served in Vietnam during the war, and spent much of his life suffering the after-effects of that war. A few years ago, he lost my grandma (affectionately known as Nana to us) to an aggressive cancer and moved in to our family home in Huntington Beach with my mom as his primary caretaker. In recent months, he suffered several strokes and was put on hospice care, after which he slowly lost his abilities to walk, eat, speak, and move, until he was finally released from his pain on Friday, February 27th of this year. We are deeply hurt by losing an integral part of our small family, but we grieve as those with hope in the Lord for His joy and peace to be given to us as we continue.

Most importantly, my mom (Kelene) has struggled financially in recent times, especially with becoming a full-time caregiver for Popo in the last few months and shouldering the financial, physical, and emotional burden of his care. With Popo gone, the family is in desperate need of assistance in order to pay for his funeral expenses and keep the household afloat and running. Any amount of help goes a long way--all of it is needed to be able to give Popo his final wishes and to keep the family fed and cared for in this difficult time.

Please urgently consider donating any amount of money, groceries, or meals you can, but most importantly please be fervently praying for my mom (Kelene) and two brothers (Brendan and Josh) as they navigate this unimaginable grief and sorrow.

Specific and very urgent needs are as follows:

$2,100 to pay for Popo's cremation and mortuary fees

$4,000-$5,000 to cover one month of bills

$1,000 to cover one month of grocery expenses for the entire family
