On Tuesday, our family experienced an unimaginable tragedy. My grandma, who was 85 years old, passed away in a house fire that destroyed the home she had cherished since the 1940s. She was born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio, and her house was a place where generations of our family gathered, shared memories, and felt loved. She was the most selfless person I have ever known, always lighting up every room and bringing joy to her four children, seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Even after retiring from Heinen's grocery store twelve years ago, she continued to be the heart of our family, spending time with us and making every moment special.
When we arrived at the scene, the fire department had just gotten her out of the house, and soon after, we were notified at the hospital that she was gone. The house is completely destroyed, and everything inside is lost. This is something you never think you would have to deal with, and it has been incredibly tough for our family. My grandma always joked that she was 27, and every time I left her house, she would laugh and say she was old enough to have a party. Her spirit and humor will be missed so much.
We are now facing funeral expenses and trying to figure out how to repair the house, all while fighting with insurance. Any support, whether through donations or sharing this fundraiser, means the world to us. Thank you so much for your kindness and for any information that can help us get through this difficult time. You will be missed so much, grandma.
