Help Keith Paquin and Family Through Tough Times

Hello Family and Friends,
My name is Christy. I am the wife of Keith Paquin (my Lobster). Most of you know what our situation has been like for the past year and for ones that don’t know, I will fill you in on what’s been going on.
Keith had worked in the medical field for 30 years as an EMT/Paramedic. There is a saying in this field that Doctor’s, Paramedics and Nurses are their worst patients. We found all this out back in 2020 when Keith had an amputation of all 5 toes on his right foot, and somehow, Keith has been dealt with another challenge in life that will ultimately end and is treating symptoms with medication as needed (Currently prescribed 12 medications). We all know medications are not cheap and they are a must to keep him alive even if it’s for a short time.
Last year Keith and I took a trip to Arizona to visit my bio-sister for the weekend with our granddaughter Clara (Adventures with Clara). All 3 of us had gotten sick with what we thought at the time with sinus infections. Both Clara and I bounced back shortly after returning and Keith never really recovered. It wasn’t until Sept. that we took him to the ER to get check out. After some tests and 5 days in the hospital Keith was diagnosed with Stage C, class III heart failure. We were told a bypass surgery was out of the question due to his heart being too weak to go under the knife as he may not wake up after.
As you all know my husband, he is not the type of person that can just sit around and do nothing. Keith continued following the doctor’s orders and went out on temporary disability then returned to work in Feb. 2025. Since then, Keith has not really made any improvements and will eventually need to go out on Hospice Care. Last Echocardiogram (dated 7/10/2025) his heart injection fraction is 22.27% (meaning heart is pumping at this rate). I was laid off from my job in July 2024 and decided to go back to school full time. We have been managing our finances up until recently after we had exhausted what savings we had and with help from my parents.
Keith won’t qualify for SSDI unless he quits his job completely and even then, the time it takes for the approval is 6-12 months assuming they don’t deny the claim the first time. If it gets denied it can take another 9-14 months for approval. We are going to apply for temporary disability and Medi-Cal but even though it takes time too to get approved and being that he was out the 4 months and coming home early every day still may not be enough to pay the bills.
We all know Keith is not the type of person to ask for help financially but after weighing all of our options and living arrangements it only seemed like the right thing to do was to start this GoFundMe page so we don’t have to lose the roof over our heads and Keith can continue to strive to get better and I can continue to care for him.
Please, if you can help with anything. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!
