1st donor
My name is Keith...
I was recently diagnosed 8/14 with rectal cancer… 2 days before my birthday
I am humbly requesting donations as I have found myself in an unescapable debt situation...
In 2017 I was let go from my employment, with only a 30 day notification… I had never been given a verbal or written warning regarding job performance etc, the owner simply decided he wanted to replace me with the sister of his favorite employee …
at that time, I 55 years old and devastated.
I lost my job ( income ) and health insurance in 30 days
2 months later, a had a medical emergency
( heart ) and needed a pacemaker…
I was diagnosed soon after , with Pulmonary Hypertension and Dupuytren’s Contracture disease in both hands...
I also have an auto immune disease that I have been living with for almost 30 years
I applied for Social Security disability. Over a 2 1/2 year process , 2 different denials, hiring attorneys...
I was finally approved with the appeal …
However, during that entire 2 1/2 yrs process I still had to live… pay my bills etc
And then COVID hit the world
I had no choice but to live off credit cards and borrow money from my mother ( 80 yrs old )
Neither us had and money to speak of ie
( retirement accounts, mega bucks etc )
I actually moved in with my mother to consolidate households so that living was a bit less expensive for us both
Now I am facing a financial crisis because of credit card debt ( $30,400 ) between 4 cards has risen astronomically
Interest rates are 27-29%
Payments are each up to $100 - $300 each monthly now
Because all cards are “ maxed “ out, my credit scores have plummeted under the 600 mark
Prior to all of this, I was over 725 FICO
To this day; I have never made a late payment or missed a payment
The issue, I literally have less than $100 each month after I pay all required payments
Rent is astronomical here; my mother and I pay $2750 / month for a 2 bedroom apartment
I have contacted several companies who "offer debt consolidation " or "help consolidate" but they actually want me to pay their fees for a "debt relief program "
Which requires 2 things
I ruin my excellent payment history because the program requires I STOP paying the payments...
then the banks do not get paid the full amount
I am not interested in cheating the banks out of the money that I used when I made charges…
I also do not want to ruin my credit payment history either
I need a helping hands… if someone, any amount , can help me, I would be eternally grateful
I am trying to find a part time job here where I live, but I have to be careful that I do not jeopardize my Social Security benefits, especially the medical insurance.
Thank you for any amount you contribute
Keith
