My name is Kevin Ponthieux, writing for my twin brother Keith—a 63-year-old New Orleans/Metairie local known as “one of the twins.” For 40+ years, Keith has been the reliable guy: remodeling homes, landscaping yards, fixing anything broken, and racing cars/boats. If you’re from here, he probably worked for you, your family, or a friend. He’s hardworking, generous, and always ready to help. But life hit hard.
Years of landscaping exposed him to Roundup, likely causing neck cancer. Tulane’s team treated it successfully. Then an esophageal tumor appeared, blocking all swallowing. Since last Thanksgiving, Keith hasn’t eaten solid food—surviving on liquids, down 40+ pounds, dealing with constant weakness and pain. He fights daily with chemo, radiation, and infusions at LCMC’s Cancer Center. The doctors and nurses are amazing, and Keith won’t quit. But he can’t work, so bills are stacking up fast—insurance doesn’t cover everything, and basics like rent, utilities, and storage for his truck/tools are impossible right now.
Keith lives simply—our parents taught us responsibility, no extravagance. He needs help to heal without drowning in debt. Donations will go straight to uncovered medical bills, rent and household basics, storage for truck and tools, and food and care for his loyal little dachshund, Elsie, who stays by his side. Keith prays daily, leans on faith, and draws strength from family and friends. He’s spent a lifetime helping others—now he needs a hand. If Keith’s work, smile, or community spirit touched you, your support or sharing this fundraiser means the world to us. Thank you from our hearts. Keith’s fighting to get strong and back to life. Your support can make it happen. With gratitude, Kevin (for Keith Ponthieux)
