Keith was first diagnosed with FSGS (a rare, degenerative kidney disease with no cure) when he was 12 years old. He received his first kidney transplant back in 2008 and it remained healthy and viable for 14 years until Keith was hospitalized for 3 weeks with Covid double pneumonia. His kidney slowly lost function over the next year causing him to begin peritoneal dialysis treatments in early 2023. The nightly, 11-hour treatments really took a toll on him over the past 2 years while he tried to maintain his business and provide for his family. Amazingly, on November 19th, Keith received the long-awaited gift of a new kidney from an incredible living donor! His recovery is going well, but we have quite a long while before he will be able to return to work. Keith and his donor met while working concessions at a Hornet’s game - something they both do to raise money for their daughter’s competitive dance fees. On top of his photography schedule, Keith works this second job 8-10 times a month just to cover Ella Pearl’s dance tuition, costume, competitions, and all sorts of other various fees. His doctors have told him that it will be at least another 3 weeks before he can drive and 4-6 weeks before he will be able to return to any type of work. Though they aren’t typically ones to ask for help, they might need a little assistance over the next few months covering medical bills, travel to UNC for checkups, higher insurance premiums, and Ella’s dance fees. Any donation would be so greatly appreciated, but please know, your love, messages, and prayers have lifted them up so much already!
