Help Keith get mobility back

Hi, my name is Andrew Murphy. My father, Keith, was involved in a bad car accident on 03/31/2021. Since that day, he's spent 45 days in the ICU undergoing multiple surgeries, and eventually coming back to a sound state of mind. He was moved to a live in facility in Connecticut following the ICU stay, and was there for roughly two and a half months. Unfortunately, he was forced by insurance to switch to a lower level of care, and still has minimal mobility. We believe he can recover far more than state he is currently in.

 

His C4, C5, C6, & C7 were injured significantly, and he has an incomplete spinal cord injury. With an incomplete injury of the spinal cord, there is a chance that he will not gain most of his mobility again. Even though the chances are slim of full mobility, doctors say that any mobility gained back in the first 12-18 months will be the only mobility that he will have for the remainder of his life. He is currently at 8-9 months since the date of the accident.

 

Due to Keith being transferred to a lower level of care, he has not been getting the amount of care that we feel he should be. We, (the family), want him to have the absolute best chance of gaining the most mobility back as he possibly can, whatever that may look like. It will more than likely never be back to normal, however we know with his dedication, and some hard work put in, (just like he has done with everything in his life), he has the potential to be significantly better than he currently is.

 

We are setting up this GoFundMe in hopes that we can get him the care that he needs, even if it is self pay, so he can return back to a higher level of care and physical therapy to give him the absolute best chance to recover.

 

Keith is known and loved by so many, and any little donation would be extremely appreciated.

 

The funds will be used to provide him with a higher level of care, more physical therapy on a daily basis, as well as help pay for medical expenses, bills at home, and of course the mortgage. If anyone knows Keith, you will know that he lives for the outdoors, his home, yard, and of course his dogs.
