We are reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for your help in supporting my cousin, Keith. Keith is a man of faith and beacon of kindness to so many individuals. He is a loving husband to Kara, his college sweetheart, and devoted father to his three young children (Emilia (7), Esme (3), and Ira (12mo)).
Almost overnight, what was originally thought to be a cold with body aches, fatigue, and swollen lymph nodes, quickly turned into a devastating diagnosis: Peripheral T-cell lymphoma – a rare and aggressive form of lymphatic cancer. He was admitted to the
hospital on June 27th, his 35th birthday, and has remained hospitalized ever since.
On June 21st his wife Kara had just worked her last shift in the hospital, leaving her job as an oncology nurse to stay home with their children full time. And, not one week later, Keith was admitted on her home unit as a patient. In a matter of days their entire world flipped upside down.
The road ahead will no doubt be long and difficult. Keith has now been transferred to Oregon Health and Sciences University to be under the care of a more specialized oncology team. Over this time he has had countless biopsies, labs, procedures, and infusions while his doctors work tirelessly to determine his specific subtype to adjust his
treatment plan. He is currently undergoing his first cycle of chemotherapy while we wait to see how his body is tolerating the treatment. Keith is also now fighting a secondary disease called HLH, which requires further treatment and intervention.
Our goal is to raise funds to help support Keith and his family with mounting medical expenses and to help cover transportation costs for out-of-state family who are caring for their young children while Keith and Kara are in the hospital. With your help we may ease some of the burden on this family so that Keith can focus his energy on his own
healing.
Above all, we ask for your prayers – for his healing, for his medical team, and for the encouragement of his friends and family.
Keith is a man of faith, positivity, and determination and, God willing, he will claim victory over this illness.
We remain faithful that this is not the end of Keith’s story, that God has bigger and more beautiful plans for him yet.
With love and gratitude,
Brody and family
