Help Kira and the Butler family

Donation protected
Hi everyone, as many of you know, the Butler family have gone through one tragedy after another in the last couple of years, first with the death of their middle son Butchy from cystic fibrosis, then with the death of their husband/father Steven in a violent assault that also put their oldest Bradly in critical condition. Since that event, a year ago, the family continues to suffer through the fallout of these tragedies including the criminal proceedings against their father’s assailants, Brad’s recovery from his injuries, the relocation to a new hometown as well as all the small injustices that life piles on to a family in times of trauma and instability.

Unfortunately, a new problem has arisen for them as they try to rebuild their lives. One of their two beloved dogs has developed a debilitating eye condition that requires imminent and mandatory surgery. Under the circumstances however, the family does not have the funds to pay for this procedure and are faced with the impossible task of deciding what to do now. This dog, the sweet and cuddly Kira, has been, along with her brother Bear, a constant consoler and companion during this time. I can vouch for this as I travelled with the family after Steve’s death, those dogs provided me personally with the emotional care only the calm and loyal presence of a furry non-judgmental friend can provide.

Yes this is a funding campaign to pay for doggy surgery but I also know that this family is daily dealing with more than I ever wish for even my worst enemies. To make matters worse, we are living in a time of great isolation only adding to the feeling of alienation such horrible circumstances can create. My hope is that this campaign can do two things, help care for their beloved pet but also, in giving even the smallest amount, you’re reminding them that there is a greater community behind them. A community who, though are not physically present, are sending their love and strength and holding in their thoughts the existence of a brighter future for them.

The amount requested in this campaign is the costs as outlined by their veterinarian for Kira’s surgery, fees and medication which I will pay directly to Dr. Christina Karkanis at Bay City Animal for surgery which is scheduled for October 21st.

If any funds are raised beyond that, I will ensure it is used to do something special for the family. I know these are hard times for everyone so do not feel obliged to give but know that even the smallest amount will make a difference.
