Hey, my name is Keimi. I am a Queer, Disabled, immigrant settler and arts worker in so-called "Vancouver."
I am raising funds to allow me to pay for an urgent and complex medical procedure not covered by public health insurance.
I recently had two visits to the emergency room due to a bad infection which I later learned was caused by severely impacted wisdom teeth (shown in photo). After paying for a consult with a specialized oral surgeon, I was told that I would require an additional surgical procedure on my sinuses.
The funds I raise will help cover the cost of:
- The removal of 4 impacted wisdom teeth and perforation/repair of my sinuses (quoted at $3300)
- Recouping costs associated with my ER visits, dentist, and oral surgeon consults ($260)
- Medication and supplies for recovery (e.g. Pain management, antibiotics, liquid diets, etc.)
- Dog care and transportation (A daycare package for 10 days, $420, plus transportation costs)
- A buffer for a possible second surgery that may be required later on (if my sinuses cannot be repaired in the first procedure, and/or if there is nerve damage caused by the removal)
Any additional funds will allow me to have a buffer and not have to take on any additional freelance work as I recover. All contributions of any size are greatly appreciated! It's a nerve-wracking vulnerable time and I'm grateful for the support of the communities I am a part of. ♡
