Keil’s Fight

Like so many of you, being moved by a crowd funding story has given me pause for all I am thankful for. At the top of that list is health, and that of my family and loved ones. While it was my hope to never need to write such a story – regrettably that day has come.

Like so many of you – we deeply love Keil and Jackie Milbrand as family. Recently they have entered the fight of their life against pancreatic cancer. After learning of his diagnosis and prognosis, Keil told his doctor “Doc, I am going to be the exception!" This of course is no surprise to any of us – whether you are a former colleague of his 30 + years in law enforcement,

a teammate, a friend, a neighbor, or family, you respect his statement as he has never taken the path of least resistance in pursuing his life. Keil simply put, is a warrior!

This week chemotherapy begins. After taking these treatments he will go on to a clinical trial. This treatment involves traveling to Florida multiple times after receiving a procedure that is not covered by insurance and is very costly. Keil’s brother Jim has a close friend who has received this new procedure with early promising results. It’s our collective hope that Keil’s experience is the like.

In closing, my plea is that you join us in helping our Braveheart. KEIL HAS THE FIGHT – we have this opportunity to join his side!
