Keiko has been a beloved part of our family for about eight years. My mom and I found him abandoned in a parking lot, looking disheveled and alone, not long after we had lost our previous dogs. We named him Keiko, which means "blessing" in Japanese, because he truly was a gift to us during a difficult time. Since then, Keiko has become a constant source of comfort and happiness, not just for us, but for everyone he meets in our local community. Even though Keiko is now partially blind and deaf due to his age, he still finds ways to bring joy to those around him. He has a special way of sensing when someone is feeling down and always offers gentle companionship and affection. His friendly nature and loving spirit have helped our family through tough times, especially as we’ve struggled with mental health challenges.

Recently, Keiko’s health has taken a turn for the worse. He’s suffering from a severe gum and tooth infection that’s causing his gums to deteriorate. The infection is making his existing heart murmur worse, and his thyroid glands are swelling in response. Our vet has recommended immediate dental work, along with x-rays to check his heart and thyroid, because his age and condition make the situation urgent. Keiko used to love going on long walks and greeting neighbors, but now his health issues keep him from enjoying the things he loves most.

We’re asking for help to cover the cost of Keiko’s dental treatment and related care so he can get back to being the joyful, loving companion he’s always been.
