Help Kei & Marty Stay Housed During Disability Appeal
Donation protected
Howdy folks! We’re Kei and Martin. We’ve found ourselves in a jam and need to ask for help.
Martin has been dealing with a workman’s comp case relating to an injury he sustained over two years ago. As a consequence, he can’t work and hasn’t been able to access healthcare since being let go from his job in April.
In July, we had to make a decision about whether to add Marty to my employer’s health plan effective Sept 1. He was denied both Medicaid/disability, so we decided to go ahead and add him to my insurance while we got the appeals squared away.
Unfortunately, the appeal process is strained and lengthy and the outcome that we hoped for has not yet come to pass. With Martin under my health plan, we are missing $600/mo from our usual anticipated income. Without it, my income alone cannot satisfy our two biggest expenses. Our savings has been completely emptied and now we are behind on rent, our car note, and utilities.
To make things a little more pressing - we are pregnant with our first child.
While we wait for the state to review Marty’s case, we desperately need help to stay afloat. Anything you can spare is greatly appreciated.
