Birders and Nature Enthusiasts - please help us keep water in Willow Tank, a treasured birding hotspot near Portal in Southeast Arizona. This GoFundMe campaign seeks $6500 to the cover the cost of an emergency 25SQF-7 Grundfos Solar Pump installed during this past summer’s extended drought. We need funds to repay the non-profit Friends of Cave Creek Canyon (FOCCC), guardians of the tank, which stepped up to pay for the pump during our drought-stricken, severe summer. Your gift helps us secure monies for the pump, all maintenance and electricity to run it for the next two years. Willow Tank as a vibrant biological corridor connecting to Cave Creek Canyon is especially vital during spring and fall migrations. It provides a year round green oasis for wildlife – eBird lists 257 bird species!
FOCCC supplies countless volunteer hours to maintain the site but the pump is a big drain on their reserves. The neighboring rural communities of Portal and Rodeo are small, less than 1000 in population, so we need YOUR help to make this campaign a success! I am a local resident who has been birding at Willow Tank for 20+ years and I want to see it thrive. All funds will be transferred on a bi-monthly basis to the non-profit Friends of Cave Creek Canyon (FOCCC) when you donate. This is my personal fundraiser to help Willow Tank; I am a former and founding member of FOCCC. I am collecting funds through GoFundMe to assist them in a timely way. If you identify your contribution with a note to FOCCC including your contact details through the contact form on their website, or to a message to me below, we will send you a tax-deductible receipt upon transfer. If you prefer to donate directly that is fine, please send a check to FOCCC, Willow Tank Fund, PO Box 16264, Portal AZ 85632. Updates will be provided! Please SHARE!
