Please Help Us Bring Our Father Home – Support Vanhty Rattanavong

On February 6, 2026, our world was turned upside down.

My father, Vanhty Rattanavong, went to his routine annual immigration check-in — something he has faithfully done every single year for the past 26 years. Instead of coming home to us that day, he was detained by ICE.

We never imagined that after decades of compliance, hard work, and good behavior, our family would be facing this nightmare.

Thirty-one years ago, when my father was just 17 years old, he made a mistake. As a teenager, he was influenced and manipulated by adults into committing a crime and was prosecuted as an adult. He paid his debt to society. Since his release, he has done everything right. For over three decades, he has been a law-abiding, hardworking, and devoted family man.

My father has been in the United States since he was 3 years old. He came here legally from Laos with his parents and has never left the country since. America is the only home he knows. He does not read or write in Lao. Being sent to a country he has no memory of would mean losing everything — his family, his home, and the life he has built.

He is a loving husband and a devoted father. He works as an Operations Manager and is the main provider for our household. My brother has special needs and requires ongoing medical care and support. Without my father’s income, my mother cannot afford my brother’s medical expenses or maintain our household on her own.

We are heartbroken. Every day without him feels incomplete. Our home feels empty.
