Help Keep Transformative Experiences Alive for Students

I have been a grateful observer of the impact that experiential learning can have on urban students. To watch students go from being relatively fearful of nature to being nature lovers , to see students relax and socialize in new ways as their phones have been put out of reach, and to join with them in doing authentic field research is transformative and life changing.

I want to keep these kinds of experiences alive for students at my school. Therefore I'm asking for your help to raise scholarship money for students who need help to afford these kinds of experiences. Our school is in one of the poorest large cities in the country, and by some measures the poorest. Our students families do not have expendable income and so providing financial assistance for them is my mission.

Specifically, I will be providing scholarships for students to attend the annual trip to Hurricane Island, Maine. The individual cost is $600 per student. So many of my friends and family have graciously supported this effort in the past. Please consider giving this year as we gear up for a new trip in this fall.
