Keep Toby at the Ranch campaign! Raising funds so my niece can keep the pony she has grown attached to! Story time...2025 has been a rough year! Following the loss of two horses on our ranch to Potomac Horse Fever this summer, my 8-year-old niece's mom (my sister-in-law) tragically lost her battle with Ovarian Cancer in September 2025. My niece has spent time with a POA gelding, Toby, on my ranch for the past 2 years, but particularly over this summer during the height of her mom's struggle with cancer, he was able to bring her fun and joy. She has grown very attached to Toby and he has been good for her heart. She is also very much looking forward to showing Toby in her first full 4H season in 2026. However, right around the time that my sister-in-law passed away, I received a phone call informing me that the POA gelding's owners were planning to sell him in March 2026. I was heartbroken to learn this, as I do not want my niece to have to endure yet another loss so soon after the loss of her mom. Financially, we have been hit hard this year, and I am still working on paying vet bills, in addition to figuring out the funds to also keep Toby's horse friend, Pablo, at the ranch. The thought of Toby leaving the ranch and having to explain that to my niece has led to some sleepless nights and many, many prayers. So I am coming to the internet for help to keep Toby at my ranch for my niece. I know that finances are hard for a lot of people right now, but I would be grateful for even the smallest of donations to contribute to the Keep Toby at the Ranch campaign!
