Sebastian baxter road to recovery

Hi there,

on Friday the 30th of July approximately 7pm I got the dreaded phone call that my son was being taken to hospital, he had been in an accident with a grand Jeep Cherokee whilst riding his motorcycle he was not in a good way, police said he was not breathing and unresponsive when they got there , we were lucky to have a small group of extremely supportive friends there and it broke every single one of us to see him in that condition . Not knowing what was going on or what was going to happen was by far the scariest thing I have ever been through and I pray no one ever has to endure that. We got transferred from maitland to the John Hunter hospital where we found out he would undergo 2 surgeries both were successful on his left knee and right side pelvis, Sebastian is not allowed to bare any weight on either leg so is wheel chair and bed bound for 6 to eight weeks from there he will go through Physio to pretty well learn to walk again in this time I have to give up work being a casual I don’t have sick pay or any of that and financially this getting hard with Seb at home caring full time for him and 4 younger children I can’t afford to not be working (but I don’t have a choice) and doing all this travelling has been costing a fortune and to make matters worse the first night seb had surgery we didn’t leave the hospital till after midnight and backed my car into a tree and can not drive it till I can get the break lights fixed so as much as I HATE asking for help I am left with no choice this is financially a hard time for many both mentally physically and financially so I completely understand if you can’t help but if anyone can help at all in any small way my gremlins and I would be forever grateful. Whilst I don’t know the extent of how much this will all cost as yet I should have some sort of indication as time goes on, I just want to thank you all for your generosity from the bottom of our hearts xoxo

Update we have an appointment on the 15th of this month to have scans done and see if we’re ready to start physio and get this boy on his journey to walking again, he’s certainly had his ups and downs thus far as have myself, his girlfriend and the children but we would prefer this then how it could have gone down. Thank you all a million and some xoxoxo

We go back next Tuesday for scan results and to find out where we go from there, ctp insurance have since said they’re going to take on 50% of costs meaning I then need to come up with the other 50%

Not working at the moment has certainly taken its toll but all donations received to date have most definitely helped and bought us this far so I thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, but we still have a ways to go, lock down is certainly taking its toll on everyone with 5 kids home and Sebs beautiful girlfriend by our sides helping me with him immensely days can be mentally challenging for me . If you can’t donate which I know in these times finances are tight for everyone but if you could please just share we just might hit the target, this new target will help cut some surgery and physio costs. Stay well all and I will be back next week with hopefully good news on physio and updated scan photos xoxo

Update: We got some wonderful news today, seb has his surgeon absolutely mind blown with his recovery and they have requested he become a part of their studies for his recovery he is now on crutches full weight allowed on his right side (pelvis) and on 10 kilos on his left knee side absolutely over the moon with him, now we start the physio side of things still needing to reach our goal to pay out some medical bills that are needing payment but once back at work I can continue to pay out the rest over time. Thank you to absolutely everyone from the bottom of our hearts

Update: we’re now upto 30 kilos on the knee, this kid is doing amazing so proud of how far he has come and his determination. My hurdle now is the 11k bill that comes with this I do not expect you all to pay that for me but any help I can get to get up to my goal would be amazing and we are forever grateful to everyone for all the help we have received and ongoing. Thank you all for helping and following our journey, much love from our hearts to yours
