Hoping the trucker community helps pull him through.
It’s been bad turn after bad turn.
Rashad decided back in 2021 he would venture out on his own, purchase a truck and begin the journey as owner operator. Since that day he’s faced set back after set back and continued to persevere no matter what came his way. This last week, I guess you can say was the last straw and perhaps the straw that will break the camels back.
Rashad purchased his truck and quickly to begin building his business. He comes from a family of truckers, grew up sitting along side his dad doing runs. Anyone who knows him, knows blood doesn’t run through his veins, it’s definitely engine oil. Haha! He lights up to the sound of old school trucks, bikes, cars. Enthusiast would be an understatement.
This is his dream, his passion. He loves driving. Please help keep these wheels rolling.
2020 purchases motorcycle. (Totaled in accident, when someone hit him)
2021 purchases Ford F350 (Totaled in hit run)
2022 purchases 2007 Kenworth
2023 purchases Honda Accord (Flooded)
August 2022 riding home on his motorcycle after parking the truck, he was hit by a car, totaling his bike and rendering him hospitalized in ICU for weeks. Once released, he began piecing himself back together but that took months. The person who hit him, had $1 a day insurance. Thankfully his insurance has covered medical expenses. But all the time lost, the pain and suffering 0$. During this time of recuperation, his Ford that was parked directly in front of home, was totaled in a hit and run, leaving the truck on the sidewalk totaled. Insurance covered that as well but he didn’t have gap so he was left paying for something he no longer had. So he suffers loss of the bike, loss of the Ford, loss of mobility, loss of income during recovery. Moneys running low, funds were leaving accounts but nothing was going back in to keep him afloat.
After recovery he signs on with a fantastic company. Life is great. God is good. During one of his routes, he’s cut off by someone making a left hand turn in front him. (Not paying attention and phone in her hand) He’s hauling 79000lbs, can’t just stop on a dime. Hauling flammable material. He hits the vehicle. Police come, both sides taken. According to report, he’s not at fault. Continued working about 2 months, came home for Christmas. Was supposed to get back on the road in January. He gets a call by safety, he’s being released from the contract. He gets marked with a preventable and it’s been a battle to stay afloat since. Taking runs that aren’t properly compensating and left with pennies on the dollar after tolls, fuel, taxes etc…definitely not enough to keep thriving. He purchases a used Honda accord, first vehicle since the hit and run, doesn’t even have it a year, our street floods, totaling his car. Thankfully insurance and gap covered that fully.
Fast forward to Sept 2025. He’s running with a buddy under his authority. He does a favor and takes this friends dedicated route when the friend was unable to do it himself. Gets loaded, it’s hours before delivery and he’s local, so…he pays for secure parking. We leave the truck at the “secured parking” and come home, heading back out after midnight. Upon arriving to the truck yard, he finds his trailer broken into, the load tampered with and at that point he doesn’t even know what was stolen. Police arrive, finding that 5 other trailers also burglarized. The friend lost that dedicated route. Rashad lost a friend, his job and without support and kindness of others will loose his truck next.
You can’t catch up when you’re constantly being knocked down. The full scope of debt is immense but at this moment in time, he needs to make a truck payment by Friday or the truck will be repossessed. He previously had a payment plan set up during his setback and needs to honor that plan or the truck is gone.
I have police reports for the 2 accidents. Will upload the one for the hit and run and the trailer theft once I get them from police departments.
Any help is appreciated, if not monetary, say a prayer for a hedge of protection. If you’re a truck company hiring owner operators, send an email. Thank you
