Hi, I'm Thea. I wear many (sparkly) hats: I am a theologian, an educator, an activist, a wife, and a mommy. My most recent adventure is the pursuit of my doctoral degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in Curriculum, Culture, and Change. My goal is to make a difference in the way BIPOC and other underresourced students come into voice as they become writers, critical thinkers, and agents of change.

In order to do this whole grad school thing, I need two tools: a computer, for which I received generous funding, and Bingo, our second car.

When we moved to Virginia, we purchased a used minivan to drive the kids around town. Now it's the vehicle that gets the kids to and from school! We named the minivan Bingo.

Today when I took Bingo to the shop to check some issues, I was hit with the need for major repairs: a rack and pinion, power steering, sway bar link kits, and shocks. I'm looking at a bill for $3,099.21. This was not an expense we'd planned on. It's an older car but it's getting the job done: we'd love to keep Bingo running a bit longer.
