Pepe is a Holland Lop bunny named after Pepe LePew because he is a total lover bunny. He loves everyone and everybun he has ever met! Pepe is quick to hop into a lap and, if you're lucky, will grace you with bunny kisses.

We opened our doors almost 6 years ago and many of the bunnies at Cuddle Bunny have been with us since then. With the life expectancy of domestic bunnies being 7-10 years, the majority of our bunnies are considered senior bunnies. Including dear, sweet Pepe! This means expensive veterinary bills to keep them healthy.

Lop bunnies in particular are bred to be cute and loving and Pepe is ALL of that. This selective breeding causes them to have flat faces and lop ears which creates a variety of health issues. We tell people that lop bunnies are the Pugs or English Bulldogs of the bunny world. The lop ears cause an "L" shaped ear canal where bacteria can park and breed leading to ear infections, eye, nasal, and dental issues.

Pepe has always had weepy eyes and clear nasal discharge, but early this year he began sneezing and his nose had a concerning thick, white discharge. After an initial visit in January where antibiotics and ear drops were prescribed, he had a repeat visit this week for an expensive PCR test to try to determine the specific cause of his continued nasal issues.
