The Ann Arbor Observer keeps you in touch with your town. Locally owned for forty-four years, we care deeply about our community—and are dedicated to journalism with honesty and integrity.
We deliver the Ann Arbor Observer FREE to residents of the Ann Arbor School District, and the Community Observer to residents of Chelsea, Dexter, and Saline. Local businesses, social service agencies, and arts organizations all benefit from the Observer’s coverage, including our comprehensive print and online events calendars.
The Observer employs fifteen full-time staff and dozens of freelance writers, artists, and photographers. Hardworking and dedicated, they often work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines.
We depend solely on advertising support from local businesses to meet our payroll, printing, and operating expenses. During the coronavirus pandemic, many are struggling financially. Faced with a devastating reduction in revenue, the Observer is losing money, and will continue to do so for months to come.
We need your help to sustain us through this unprecedented crisis--and into the future. If the Observer is important to you--and to your family, friends, local businesses, and community--please contribute.
We recognize that everyone is facing challenges now and are grateful for any amount you can give. Please consider a donation of $60 ($5 a month). Or you may want to give more--$100, $500, $1,000--to help us reach our goal.
When the crisis passes, any remaining funds will be used to underwrite advertising opportunities for non-profit organizations and a much-needed website update, positioning the Observer to continue for years to come.
