Help keep the Coloma Lotus Valley Fire Safe

Donation protected
Hello Beautiful CL Community,

The Coloma-Lotus Fire Safe Council (CLFSC) requests your immediate help to complete the CL Valley's 2021 Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) and jump-start community fire safety programs.

The 2021 CWPP updated plan is a key requirement to apply for and be awarded fire-safe grant monies. Without a completed CWPP, we are not eligible to apply for CalFire, California FSC and other grant funds.

Our donation target is $1,800, needed within the next 2 weeks. This is seed money to grow our efforts to develop a fire-safe community. Would you please donate what you can to the Coloma-Lotus Fire Safe Council? A tax-deductible donation check can be sent to the CLFSC, P.O. Box 404, Coloma CA 95613.

Since it was formed in 2015, the non-governmental, non-profit, volunteer Coloma Lotus Fire Safe Council has obtained over $156,000 in CalFire and PG&E grant funds to reduce wildfire fuel loads on most major local roads. If you drive or reside on any of these roads, you have benefitted from the increased roadside shaded fuel breaks:
2016 CalFire Grant - $58,957.00
1. Lotus Road 1.9 miles from Highway 49 west to the start of Lotus Grade;
2. Marshall Road 2.8 miles from Highway 49 east uphill to top of grade;
3. Cold Springs Road 1.8 miles from Highway 49 uphill to Gold Trail School; and
4. Bayne road 1.0 mile from Mount Murphy Road to River Road.
2018 PG&E Grant - $97,450.00
5. Bayne Road 1.8 miles from Serenity Lane uphill;
6. Beach Court 0.2 miles from Highway 49 to end;
7. Carvers Road 0.5 miles from Mt. Murphy Road to end of public road;
8. Coloma Heights Road 0.4 miles from Highway 49 to Highway 49;
9. Mt. Murphy Road 2.0 miles starting at Carvers Road uphill to intersection with Sagebrush Road.
10. New River Road 0.1 mile from Coloma Heights to end; and
11. River Road 0.3 mile from Bayne Road to end.

If you learned about defensible space assessments or the EDCFSC Chipping Program, you probably heard about these no-charge programs through the efforts of CLFSC volunteers placing local announcements.

If you attended a wildfire preparedness program at the Gold Trail Grange or picked up a bright red go-bag with evacuation information, that also was through the efforts of CLFSC volunteers.
