First off, please don't tell my wife...
Shivers is our family’s self-serve soft serve shop, dreamed up by my wife McKenzie and brought to life through years of hard work and dedication. For the past three years, it’s been more than just a business—it’s been a part of our family’s story and a way for us to connect with the Cache Valley community. We’ve always focused on serving locally sourced soft serves, with tons of creative toppings and recently added dirty sodas, fresh soft pretzels, and hot chocolate, all in a welcoming, local space.
This year, we faced our biggest challenge yet. When our rent increased at our original location, we made the tough decision to move Shivers to Smithfield. I spent months doing most of the renovations myself, and the move ended up costing much more than we expected. We had to go into debt just to make it happen, and delays meant we missed our two most profitable months. Now, as we enter the slowest part of the year, we find ourselves without the reserves we usually rely on. We’ve stopped taking an income from Shivers, and I’ve taken a cashiering job to support our family of four children. With McKenzie just having our fourth baby, things have become truly scary for us financially.
We’re not asking for help to line our pockets or buy anything extra. Every dollar raised will go directly to keeping Shivers open—covering bills, payroll, and operating costs—until our busy season returns in early spring. Shivers has been a massive part of our lives, and we’re so close to seeing its true potential in 2026. I’m asking for help to keep my wife’s dream alive for just a few more months, so Shivers can continue to serve the community and have a chance to truly shine. Any support, big or small, means the world to us. Thank you for believing in us and in Shivers.
