Help keep Rub & Grub ALIVE!!

Along with many owner operated small businesses across the country, we have not received nearly the help we need to survive this pandemic and continue to operate. While still waiting to hear from the SBA regarding the status of our EIDL loan application, we are now faced with the governor deciding that we will have to reopen or risk losing unemployment. We have been closed for 2 months, and have no revenue to purchase any protective equipment we will need in order to reopen, if we could even find what is needed. On top of all this, we have not been able to reach an agreement with our landlord and are under threat of eviction upon reopening based on past due rent accumulated during our legally mandated closure. Once we do reopen, we will still be unable to operate at our previous capacity for a while due to safety guidelines, so it is unlikely we will be able to meet our past due and current lease obligations in the timeline required by our lease for the foreseeable future.

Essentially, even with reopening, we are only delaying inevitable eviction and will still be held to our full lease obligation, leaving us open to lawsuits that could put our personal assets and home at risk. The burden of the failure of the federal relief programs is being pushed on the smallest and weakest of us, all from something that is beyond any of our control!

I know this amount seems a hefty goal, but we are being held to our lease agreement as though everything is “business as usual” when it is NOT.  If business was normal, we would have no problem meeting these obligations as we did on time every month up until the pandemic hit.

The total amount I am requesting will cover the past due and remainder of our lease obligation and fees incurred, but ANYTHING will help us try to continue to operate! We want to get back to work safely, and do our best to make it through this time safely until better treatment and/or vaccines become available and we can get back to the larger gatherings, parties, and dinners we are ALL going to be craving once we get through this! But having received little to no help, even through loans or payment arrangements, we will not even get the chance.

This is honestly the last thing I ever wanted to do, but we don’t have any more options... I know that SO MANY are in the same position as us, or worse, but we are just trying to do everything we can to keep our dream alive through this and make it out the other side.

ANYTHING will help, and all money received will be put toward our lease obligation to help us stay open through the duration of the pandemic. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!

We encourage you to visit our website rubandgrubwv.com to see what we have built and poured our hearts and souls into! Our business revolves around supporting other small businesses and our community as a whole! We want to be able to continue to help our community and local economy thrive once (if) we get through this!

Small businesses ARE the backbone of our communities, our local economies, and our country!! That backbone is BREAKING!! The failure of our federal and state governments to help businesses in true need, while prioritizing  funneling low interest loans to big businesses during a worldwide crisis is plain for all to see at this point. Apparently the only help for real people is other real people, so we’re putting this out there and hoping for the best.

With hope, gratitude, and wishes of good health to you all,
