~Help Us Cover the cost of Pokey's Care While Matthew is in Inpatient Chemotherapy~
Dear friends and family,
This December, our world was suddenly upended. Matthew was diagnosed with leukemia just before Christmas, and we spent the holidays in a hospital two hours away from home, trying to navigate an overwhelming new reality. He’s undergoing a month-long inpatient chemotherapy treatment in Boston, followed by two years of outpatient care at home in Maine.
In the meantime, our 11-month-old rescue pup, Pokey, has been at doggy daycare and boarding near our home. It's truly her FAVORITE place in the world where she’s surrounded by her best doggy friends, amazing human caregivers, and endless playtime. It’s her happy place and allows me to focus on supporting Matthew without worrying about Pokey’s well-being.
The daycare has gone above and beyond, even sending sweet Pokey arts and crafts projects to cheer Matthew up during his treatments. Keeping Pokey there provides her with joy and stability and gives me the flexibility to bring her home for snuggles when I can manage quick trips back from Boston to our home in Maine.
If you’d like to help us during this incredibly weird and emotional time, contributing even just a little bit to the cost of Pokey’s daycare and boarding, food, and grooming would help us immensely. You can contribute here or Venmo me directly at @Eugenia-Liu. Knowing Pokey is safe, happy, and getting all the play and attention she needs is a huge relief as we focus on Matthew’s long road to recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support.
Eugenia, Matthew, and Pokey
