Help keep Peter from becoming homeless
A few years ago Peter was doing ok working as a Masonry Contractor, making a reasonable living and supporting his family. But then around 2018 his marriage turned sour – real sour, and his business began experiencing a downturn. If that wasn’t enough, he injured both shoulders (rotator cuff) such that he could hardly do any of the heavy lifting that his work requires. After 32 years working as a mason, he suddenly was mostly unable to work and make a living. And then Covid-19 was the final blow that has killed any hope of his business reviving.
The marriage of 17 years soon turned into a long drawn out divorce proceeding. His wife had inherited $287,000 which she chose not to tell Peter about, and bought herself some expensive high class lawyers. The one Peter chose – well he wasn’t very lucky, and the guy flubbed the whole thing resulting in Peter’s wife making out like a bandit.
The judge helped too, by ruling that the wife got the home which they lived in first and then made a rental. The second home which they had lived in was Peter’s business base with a large shop, and plenty of room for his equipment and tools (vehicles, mixers, trailers, forklift, scaffolding, and other equipment). But the judge ruled that that home had to be sold, further making continuing Peter’s business impossible.
So Peter must be off the property in 4 days, will have to live in his camping trailer – but doesn’t have a place to put it. He is soon to be homeless.
Currently Peter is also penny-less, he has had to sell things just to have money to eat or buy gas. He is very, very depressed, and given up all hope for any kind of a life. He owes over $80,000 in attorney’s fees (mostly his wife’s) plus over $110,000 in other debts from business and family debts, and $28,000 in taxes. And then there is back spousal & child support payments.
I, his father have helped him all I can financially. I am retired on a fixed income, and sadly not a person of means. Peter really needs help – financially to get back on his feet. He is a good man, and honest man, and a proud man who has worked very hard for many years. If we can get him some good help, he can get back on his feet, and will make us all proud.
Please help if you can, and make me believe that maybe God does answer prayers. Thank you.
