Hi Folx, my name is Brian Martinez, and I’m the owner of a Latino, gay-owned Mexican-fusion restaurant in Astoria, Queens.

What started as a restaurant has grown into something much bigger — a community home. A place where neighbors gather, performers shine, local artists are celebrated, and everyone is welcomed exactly as they are.

For years, we’ve proudly opened our doors not just to serve food, but to build connection, inclusion, and joy.

Fresco's is More Than a Restaurant — A Community Hub

Our space has hosted:

• Community fundraisers and nonprofit events

• Book clubs, pop-up markets, and civic meetups

• Drag performances, queer-affirming events, and cultural celebrations

We’ve raised funds and awareness for organizations like NYC AIDS Walk, Broadway Cares, and other vital causes. During the pandemic, we created Drag-Livery to keep our performers working and spirits high. We also donated hundreds of meals to healthcare workers, Essentials workers and hospitality staff when they needed it most.

Giving back has always been part of who we are.

Why We’re Asking for Help Now

Like many small businesses, the last few years have been incredibly hard.

Rising costs, slower foot traffic, and a tough winter have made it difficult to keep up with basic operating expenses. We’ve done everything we can to protect our staff, support our performers, and keep this space alive — but we’ve reached a point where we can’t do it alone.
