I'm reaching out during one of the hardest moments my family has ever faced. My stepdad was recently detained by ICE, and the way it happened was sudden and devastating. He was picked up the moment he arrived for his shift at Target -- a place where he has worked for almost 10 years of his life. In all that time, he has never been late and has never called in. He has always shown up, worked hard, and done everything asked of him.

My stepdad came into my life when I was just 10 years old. I'm now 22 years old, and he has been there for every major milestone -- growing up, learning responsibility, becoming the person I am today. The same goes for my siblings. He didn't just help raise us; he taught us life lessons, values, and what it means to be a good person and a hard worker. To us, he is not just a stepdad -- he is our dad.

He moved to the United States with his parents when he was only 3 years old. This is the only life he truly knows. The thought of him being deported to a place he barely remembers is terrifying for all of us. The uncertainty of where he may be sent and what comes next has been overwhelming.

With him gone, our family is facing emotional pain and serious financial hardship. We are trying to cover basic living expenses while also preparing for legal costs, all while coping with the fear of possibly being separated from someone who has been the backbone of our family for so long.
