Hey everyone. My name is Anna, and I am the daughter of the strongest woman I know. My mother was homeless at 15, survived a decade of domestic abuse, and has lived through more hard tales than I could tell. Over the last twenty years—which is the length of my own life so far—our family has survived our battles together. My mom, my older brother, myself, and my sister are a team.
With that being said, we really need all the help we can get here. We are hoping for a miracle. My mother started a mortgage 19 years ago from a private lender who, for the next 19 years, lied and manipulated my vulnerable mother into constant late fees and a fake escrow account. She always though she was behind, never able to catch a break. In 2020, the landlord decided to file foreclosure in our home. My working, single mother got to work with a lawyer to sort through all the documents to find out how much money she really owed over the years. She found the ledger she was sent years ago and found that many numbers have been changed on the new ledger.
When it came down to it, my mother—after twenty years—according to the real documents, was only 300$ behind. The judge, however, chose to ignore the evidence and documents, and sided with the lender. Now my mom owes 67,000 to the lender, and we have to be out of our home by January 1st, 2022. This day is also the day the property goes to auction by our city.
I know this is a long shot, but I really don’t want my family to be kicked out of our childhood home. If we could spread our story, I think it would be possible to buy our home back at auction. The lender wouldn’t be in the picture, and my mom wouldn’t have to dig up the tree that belonged to her grandmother before she passed. If we don’t have enough to win at auction, any donations will be made to finding new housing for my family.
Like I said, we need a miracle. Please consider helping us keep our family home.
