Hey all, many of you know my dear friend Ojai, and those who have had the privilege of getting to know them throughout the music, wasteland, San Diego and PNW circles, know how caring, selfless, and kind they are. Recently, they have been hit with some absolutely debilitating mechanical issues with their vehicle. Due to physical issues with their body, they can only work so much in their current occupation to help mitigate these unexpected costs. They clean houses for less abled and queer people in the greater Portland area, so even in their profession they’re doing more for the community.
In Ojai’s free time, they have made big steps to help build up the marginalized communities around them; including the houseless populations, queer and POC communities, immigrants, people who are physically and mentally less able, as well as local musicians and poets. They do regular houseless outreach and distribution, have created pride events and queer spaces where there were none, brought budding musicians to stages to share their talents, and are a tenacious force in keeping their community safe for all. None of these things are sustainable without the use of their vehicle. They have always had a hard time asking and accepting help from others, so I’m reaching out for your assistance to keep them and so many others afloat.
They’ve had a rough life from the jump, are without parents or close family to help assist in this time, which is why I’m organizing this to show them that community can and will gather to help it’s own; especially ones that so freely give and nurture the community itself.
As of right now, they went through a breakup 2 days before having these repair bills dropped on them, so support is needed from all those that have the means and the heart to help such a great human.
Any amount of financial help to alleviate this stress would be greatly appreciated by myself, them, and those around them that receive care and love from Ojai in the many capacities that they provide for the world.
So far Ojai has dumped $2000 into repairs and was just hit with another $6000 bill.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration in helping my dear friend
