Collecting on behalf of Nadia, her husband, and her two sons: 

Nadia and her family are refugees from Mexico. They have escaped a life of threats, kidnappings, murder, extortion, and severe trauma. They tried escaping the cartel by uprooting their entire family and relocating to another state but were followed and the threats continued. When I first met Nadia two years ago, she was sitting on a park bench watching her children on the playground. She was crying. When I asked if she was okay she explained she was feeling a mixture of joy, relief, and guilt. She would not allow her sons to play outside in the open in Mexico for fear they would be kidnapped, held ransom, and possibly killed. She had already lost her cousin this way. 

As refugees, Nadia and her husband have worked hard to secure employment, enroll their two young sons in a supportive local school, and provide their family with a sense of safety and security in Canada. But now they need help.   

Facing possible deportation, Nadia and her family require financial assistance to remain in Canada and provide the life for their children they hope. We are grateful for your generosity as we help heal some of the human trauma inflicted on refugee families like Nadia’s.

Nadia y su familia son refugiados de México. Han escapado de una vida de amenazas, secuestros, asesinatos, extorsiones y traumas graves. Intentaron escapar del cartel desarraigando a toda su familia y mudándose a otro estado, pero fueron seguidos y las amenazas continuaron. Cuando conocí a Nadia hace dos años, ella estaba sentada en un banco del parque mirando a sus hijos en el patio de recreo. Ella estaba llorando. Cuando le pregunté si estaba bien, me explicó que sentía una mezcla de alegría, alivio y culpa. No permitiría que sus hijos jugaran al aire libre en México por temor a ser secuestrados, retenidos por un rescate y posiblemente asesinados. Ella ya había perdido a su prima de esta manera.

Como refugiados, Nadia y su esposo han trabajado arduamente para asegurar un empleo, inscribir a sus dos hijos pequeños en una escuela local de apoyo y brindar a su familia una sensación de seguridad en Canadá. Pero ahora necesitan ayuda.

Ante una posible deportación, Nadia y su familia necesitan ayuda económica para permanecer en Canadá y proporcionar la vida que esperan a sus hijos. Estamos agradecidos por su generosidad mientras ayudamos a sanar algunos de los traumas humanos infligidos a familias de refugiados como la de Nadia.
